Engineering labs, Q.C. areas and research facilities now use digital cameras to take macro recordings of data. The problem arises when micro recording is desired. There are digital cameras on the market which have been mechanically configured to provide easy attachment to microscopes and other optical systems, but these are often expensive and extremely specialized. Most digital camera users want to also adapt their existing consumer type camera to an optical system, and now Thales Optem makes this achievable.Consumer cameras are available in many different sensor sizes, mounting configurations and optical characteristics, but the Thales Optem system is a simplified generic configuration. It is especially compatible with the Nikon Coolpix models and other digital cameras when fully zoomed in. |

Mounting Requirements |
||
| Your
camera must have an accessible female mounting thread in order to utilize
the Thales Optem System. The basic 257014 digital coupler ends in a
male M28x0.75 thread (which happens to be the mating thread for the
Nikon Coolpix). Two adapters are available that convert the M28 to an
M37 or M43.
The M37 and M43 threads are standard camera lens accessory threads. If your camera does not utilize these threads, you may purchase these thread adapters from www.dcprodirect.com. |
